Let’s make this short and sweet- graphic jumpers + AW= fashion success! First catching my eye when reviewing the AW12 Balenciaga show where Back To The Future seemed a fitting tagline, graphic jumpers are firstly practical (it’s turned Baltic already), fashionable with their very on-trend bold structuring, and of course fun and playful with their various graphic prints. Cara Delevinge who let’s face it, is living the dream at just 19 is a huge fan of them and was recently featured in Vogue in one, Kristen Stewart can’t get enough of them for her casual with a hint of grudge aesthetic and Urban Outfitters would most probably go out of business if people stopped buying them.
Wear with skinny or coloured jeans accompanied with the ever-faithful converse for a casual day-look or follow suit of Balenciaga and combine with a block-coloured A- Line skirt or slacks for some serious power-dressing reminiscent of the 80s. Not the best decade for fashion I admit, but there HAD to be some good looks to come out of a whole decade right? If you want to add a touch of femininity to this tomboyish look then pop a frilly collar over the top of your jumper or wear with a feathered skirt to gain extra fashion points.
If you can’t afford a Balenciaga version then the best place to scout out an authentic 80’s graphic jumper is either from your mum’s wardrobe, your brother’s floor or probably the best option- a vintage shop. Have fun looking!
