The owl and the pussycat take the fashion world by storm

When you think of animals in fashion, I’m sure that you first think of luxurious snakeskin Birkin bags, fiery tiger-print Cavalli dresses and possibly Kat Moon’s unfortunate love for leopard print. However, this season the fashion world has gone all soft and fluffy where the animal kingdom is concerned, choosing to don jumpers with the cutest woodland creatures on the scene. Various members of One Direction and Tom Daley (who teen girls think are cute enough already) have been spotted in Burberry AW12 tops featuring puppies and owls, whilst the ladies including Kate Bosworth, Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery and Emma Stone have been embracing the animal love too.

Peter Jensen’s fox sweater dress has been a huge success on the high street, as have designs from Joules. And venturing out of the woods, Jil Sander used whales in her collection whilst Taylor Swift was spotted looking all warm and snug in a panda knit.

This look fits perfectly in with the current heritage theme of AW, where all things country are celebrated. Burberry dressed up these animal jumpers with stunning knitted pencil skirts with bows at the waist for the ladies and with luxurious slick blazers for the men. For the ultimate heritage look, team an animal jumper with skirts and coats in autumn oranges, ox-blood reds or subtle yet ever fashionable grey. Accessories-wise, a fedora will set off your outfit perfectly, as will fur accessories.

If you go down to the woods this autumn, you’re sure to find a very fashionable bunch!
