So its 2013! Time to have a huge clothes overhaul to make room in your wardrobe for all the next trends for the New Year. If you’re looking to make an impact with a new look this spring, then laser-cut is your new best friend. Subtly sexy, extremely versatile and exciting on the eye, laser-cut was all over the catwalks for SS13, and is now within your reach in all the good high street shops!
At Giles, we saw a sexy black laser-cut dress, revealing in all the right places. At Louis Vuitton we saw a pretty sheer white dress with a bit of edge with its shaping and laser-cut patterning, and at Balmain we had the laser-cut works with blasts of colour and futuristic designs. And of course the celebrities are getting in on the act. Eva Longoria wowed with a Marchesa design, only for the brave. She pulled it off and looked beautiful obviously! And style icon Nicole Richie payed homage to her subtle yet ever fashion-forward style with a stunning black leather tee.
The key to this look is to not go over-board. Like Nicole, chose one statement piece and team it with something fairly low-key so the laser-cut has its well-deserved moment in the spotlight. I think her top paired with black skinnies looks so fashionable! And if you’re going for a show-stopping dress in the evening like Eva, then team with timeless black heels and a simple up-do.
Looking at what the high-street has to offer, I think you and your purses will be in for a treat! New Look and River Island have some beautiful little laser-cut bags to add that ‘ka-pow’ to an outfit, and Topshop ( always a girls’ best friend where party dresses are concerned) have a number of laser cut designs for you to snap up. And if you’re looking to splash the cash and purchase an investment piece then Whistles should be your destination. They have a stunning leather pencil skirt with laser cut patterning around the hem and a matching top- maybe don’t wear at the same time!
No girl needs an excuse to go out and shop but I strongly suggest you make a purchase and join the laser-cut club- that’s an order!
