Summer Dreamin’…

We’re coming to the end of a lonnng April which has seen some rather erratic weather (hailstorms, blinding sunlight and hurricane in one day), lots of work and not much play unfortunately. Needless to say, I think I’m ready for summer!

Today, the day before payday (which is very dangerous), I’ve been browsing the web looking at lots of pretty things to help me look forward to summer. We have a holiday in Spain planned and are hoping to do a few city getaways including Amsterdam, so I’m looking to update my summer wardrobe, buy some miracle-working beauty products and also get in shape for the bikini! Daunting task!

My Summer Wishlist includes;

1) An easy to use makeup palette which I can carry around with me easily.

Wishlist Find: Charlotte Tilbury 5 minute instant look in a palette.

Charlotte Tilbury is definitely one of the top celeb makeup artists at the moment with clients including Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne and Jennifer Aniston. I quite like her makeup products as they’re  not too over the top but can stil transform your face into a thing of beauty! I would definitely love to receive this makeup palette to use for when I’m ‘on the go’- it contains everything you need to keep your face looking pretty, from eye highlighter to bronzer. £49

2) A light and feminine fragrance.

Wishlist Find: Jo Malone Nashi Blossom and Lime Basil Mandarin cologne.

Having had the pleasure of working for Jo Malone London, I am fairly well versed on their fragrance collection, even down to knowing the three layers of each and every fragrance of the collection (we had very thorough training)!

During my time working there, I fell in love with several of their fragrances and treated myself to a few colognes, candles and bath oils. One of my favourites has to be Jo Malone’s signature scent Lime Basil and Mandarin, a zesty and herbaceous fragrance which instantly uplifts me when I spray it. It’s perfect for this time of year as it starts getting warmer and sunnier. I’d also love to try the new limited edition cologne Nashi Blossom, a fragrance that combines fruits and florals- two of my favourite scent types. And the pretty polka dot bottle wouldn’t look bad next to the rest of my collection on my dressing table either! From £42

3) An affordable but flattering bikini.

Wishlist Find: H&M swimwear.

When it comes to bikinis, I’m not fussed on spending too much on one as I tend to get bored easily and move on to another. I absolutely love H&M as a shopping destination at the moment- I’ve found some brilliant dresses and everyday casuals there recently. Their new swimwear collection offers something for every body type, despite every bikini being modelled by a size 6 model which is anything but realistic, but fairly predictable!

I’ll always be a lover of stripes so I will probably invest in one of the below, modelled by Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra  Ambrosio. Motivation right there to get my bikini body ready! From £3.99

4)  Practical but funky sportswear.
Victoria’s Secret Sportswear Collection.

In order to achieve above bikini body for my holiday, I’m going to have to get myself back in shape! And of course, even when it comes to excercise, a girls gotta look stylish these days! There is a huge market for fashionable and feminine sport wears these day, and all the celebrities are all over their sportswear on the internet.

Here in Bristol, we have been lucky enough to have a huge Victoria’s Secret open, and whilst I’m not a fan of all of their stuff, I do enjoy their sportswear. I’ve also heard rave reviews about the sports bras from various friends.

It’s important to feel comfortable when excercising and this can sometimes be compromised when you also try to wear something ‘funky and fashionable’, but the Victoria’s Secret bras and leggings are the perfect combo of funky and functional.

So that’s my summer wish list (or a least a portion of it). What’s on your list? Summer, hurry on up!

Hunting for the best new festival-wear.

It’s impossible to escape at the moment, leading me to lament that I am in work and not in the deserts of Colorodo partying away to indie music and wearing a long flowing beaded kaftan with ‘cool’ headwear and bare feet. Coachella, the world’s most beautiful and glamorous festival, is on the horizon. Which means that festival season will start to get underway very soon! Which in turn means that summer is surely on it’s way!?

Festival wear is one of the more adventurous forms of dressing and can often verge on fancy dress or costume to reflect the happy go lucky and expressive moods of the festival-goers.

Everybody knows that (in Britain certainly) a pair of wellies is a must on the festival check list and the king of British wellies are of course Hunter.

This British brand that has a history spanning nearly 160 years has a huge fan base, anyone who’s anyone has been papped wearing a pair at a festival, whether they’ve gone for the traditional khaki green or branched out for a patterned or collab pair. I’m sure that the year that Hunter collaborated with Jimmy Choo, you couldn’t move for black snakeskin wellies at Glastonbury!

Not only synonymous with festivals, Hunters are also pretty high up in the fashion world, with the rubber boots making appearances in fashion shoots in edits such as VOGUE and TATLER.

Current Creative Director of Hunter is Alastair Willis, husband of Stella McCartney no less, and his collection last year added a more fashionable twist to the brand’s identity, with pastel colours and ombré patterns. He also ensured that Hunter was not just recognised for it’s wellies, but for other outdoor fashion pieces such as macs and accessories including bags and umbrellas.

I love that these macs are both practical and fashionable, and would look great teamed with a pair of Hunter wellies (what else) at a festival.

Funnily enough, Alastair was inspired by festivals when he created this collection- I love how he’s merged traditional outdoor greens and khaki patterns with new and exciting pastels. He also designed some pieces which would work in everyday life, such as these pretty badass rubber heels and black bomber jacket that Abbey Clancy was photographed in.

This year, there’s sure to be a new and exciting colour or patterned wellie that everyone will want to get their hands on. And if I want a matching mac too, I’ll have to get saving..my Coachella fund may have to go to towards other means!
